Profile
For over two decades, Neil has worked closely with some of the largest real estate developers in Mumbai as well as pan India retail entities, advising regularly on all aspects of land acquisition development, and redevelopment, including conducting exhaustive due diligence and title verification. He has expertise across joint ventures, acquisition, development, sale and lease of immoveable properties and the incidental documentation, in transactions across India.
Neil also maintains a varied litigation experience and has handled writ petitions and public interest litigations (PILs) concerning real estate development in and around Mumbai, and has been closely involved in corporate restructuring and Foreign Direct Investment transactions for various listed and unlisted corporate entities in India.
Neil handles the full lifecycle of property transactions, from initial term sheet negotiations to the final registration of instruments and overseeing the completion of real estate projects. He is adept at identifying and resolving deep-rooted encumbrances and technical defects to ensure marketable asset transfers and regularly drafts and negotiates high-stakes Joint Development Agreements (JDAs) and redevelopment contracts that balance commercial upside with rigorous protection. He is recognised for moving beyond conventional legal templates, employing a blend of lateral thinking and creativity to engineer solutions for the most intractable commercial and property-related challenges.
Clients turn to Neil for his ability to understand commercial terms and reduce them accurately to writing, and for his judgment on structuring complex property transactions.
